What is FOIA?

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act provides the public with the right to access government records. Any person may request records from the Williamsville Fire Protection District, and the District will respond within five (5) business days of receiving a request.

How to Submit a FOIA Request

FOIA requests must be submitted in writing. You may submit your request by:

• ● In Person: Deliver to the fire station during business hours

Your Request Should Include

• Your name and contact information
• A detailed description of the records you are requesting
• Your preferred format for receiving the records (paper, electronic, etc.)

Response Timeline

Fees

The first 50 pages of standard black-and-white copies are provided free of charge. Additional pages may be subject to a per-page fee as allowed under the Act.

Electronic records provided via email are generally provided at no cost.

Right to Appeal

If your request is denied in whole or in part, you have the right to appeal. You may file an appeal with the Illinois Attorney General's Public Access Counselor within 60 days of the denial.
