About These Terms

This is the official website of the Williamsville Fire Protection District ("WFPD," "the District," "we," or "us"), a unit of local government in Sangamon County, Illinois. By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site — you can always reach us by phone, mail, or in person instead.

What This Site Is For

We publish this site to share public information with our community: who we are, what we do, how to reach us, open burning rules, safety guidance, District events, call statistics, public meeting records, and information for people interested in volunteering.

It is an informational resource. It is not a substitute for calling 911, for speaking with a District officer, or for professional fire, medical, safety, or legal advice.

Accuracy of Information

We work to keep this site accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee that everything on it is complete, correct, or up to date at any given moment. Conditions change quickly — burn bans in particular can change within hours, and our site may not reflect a change immediately.

Information here is provided for general reference on an "as is" basis. Where something on this site conflicts with District ordinances, Illinois law, or the official records of the District, those authorities control — not this website. If a decision matters, call us at (217) 566-3311 and confirm it with a person.

Open Burning Notifications

Please read this carefully if you plan to burn.

• Submitting a burn notification through this site is a courtesy notice to the District. It is not a permit, and it is not permission to burn.
• A submission is not confirmed until we confirm it. Forms are reviewed by volunteers, not continuously. Do not assume we received it.
• You remain fully responsible for complying with all applicable District, county, municipal, and Illinois EPA burning regulations, and with any burn ban in effect.
• You remain fully responsible for controlling your fire and for any damage or injury it causes.
• The burn status shown on this site is provided for convenience and may lag behind actual conditions. Call before you burn.

Membership Interest Forms

Submitting an interest form does not make you a member, does not create an employment or volunteer relationship, and does not obligate the District to accept your application. Membership requires meeting our requirements, completing a formal application, passing a background check, and approval by the District. We also cannot guarantee a response to every submission, though we try.

Information You Submit

When you use a form on this site, you agree that:

• The information you provide is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• You are submitting your own information, or you have permission to submit someone else's.
• You will not use our forms to send spam, abuse, threats, malicious code, or false reports.
• You understand that information you send us may become a public record subject to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Our Privacy Policy explains this in detail — please read it before submitting anything sensitive.

Knowingly making a false report of a fire or emergency is a crime under Illinois law.

Acceptable Use

Please don't do any of the following:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to this site, our servers, or any connected system.
• Interfere with the site's operation, including through automated flooding of our forms.
• Scrape or harvest personal information from the site.
• Use the site in a way that violates any applicable law.
• Misrepresent yourself as a District member, officer, or trustee.

We limit how many form submissions can come from one source in an hour to protect against abuse. If you hit that limit legitimately, please just call us.

Content and Trademarks

The District's name, badge, insignia, and logo are ours, and you may not use them in a way that suggests the District endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with something when it does not — including for fundraising or solicitation.

Much of what we publish here is public information, and you are welcome to read, print, and share it for personal, educational, or non-commercial community purposes. Records the District holds are also available through the FOIA process described on our Transparency & FOIA page. Photographs of our members and apparatus may not be used for commercial purposes without our permission.

Links to Other Sites

This site links to outside resources, including our Facebook page and safety organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

This website and its contents are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the District, its trustees, officers, members, volunteers, and employees are not liable for any damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — this website or anything on it.

Nothing in these terms waives, limits, or otherwise affects any immunity, defense, or protection available to the District or its personnel under the Illinois Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act (745 ILCS 10) or any other applicable law.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from this website or these terms shall be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Sangamon County, Illinois.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and we will revise the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
